DALWHINNIE

First Society bottling in 1993.
Although this was originally named "Strathspey Distillery", it is buried deep in the wilds of Badenoch - the highest distillery in Scotland -so its current name, which means the "Meeting Place for Pleasure" in Gaelic, may refer to hunting expeditions. It was built by local businessmen from Kingussie, sold for £1,500 in 1905 to an American company, and ultimately to DCL. Since 1988, the malt has been promoted as a "Classic" by its owners.
